Privacy policy

This notice describes the current data practices of the game and the website. When those practices change, we will update this notice.

This policy covers the Narrow Front: WW2 Strategy app for iOS and Android (the "game") and the website narrowfront.matterwardlabs.com (the "site"). Both are run by Matterward Labs Private Limited ("we").

The short version

  • You can play without an account. The game signs in to Google Play Games on Android or Game Center on iPhone when it starts, unless you choose Sign out. Signing in connects your same-platform cloud save, achievements and a place on the public leaderboard. You can delete that online account, its cloud save and its leaderboard entry in the game.
  • Signed-in players appear on the public leaderboard with their commander name, total XP and an avatar the game assigns. You can turn this off in the game.
  • The game sends anonymous usage events and crash reports to Google Firebase, and shows optional ads through Google AdMob.
  • If you buy a premium crate, Google Play or the App Store handles the payment. Our purchase server checks the store's record of the purchase before the crate is delivered. We never see your card or payment details.
  • The site has no email signup form and uses analytics only if you say yes.
  • We do not sell your data.

What the game collects

WhatWhyWho processes it
App usage events, such as the app opening, a battle starting and ending, and whether it was wonTo see which parts of the game are played and where players get stuckGoogle Firebase Analytics
Crash reports: the device model, operating system version, app version and what the app was doing when it crashedTo find and fix crashesGoogle Firebase Crashlytics
Native platform account identifiers and a Firebase user identifier, when you are signed inTo connect your platform identity to your private game saveGoogle Play Games or Apple Game Center, and Firebase Authentication
Campaign progress, army and inventory, commander name, and achievements, when signed inTo back up progress and restore it on another device on the same platformGoogle Cloud Firestore; achievements are also reported to the connected platform
Commander name, total XP, an avatar the game assigns, and your rank, when signed in and Show me on the leaderboard is on; names you report, and which player reported themTo show the public leaderboard, which anyone playing the game can see, and to review reported namesOur leaderboard service on Cloudflare (Workers and D1)
The advertising identifier (Android Advertising ID or Apple IDFA), device and interaction data, when you choose to watch a rewarded adTo show the optional reward ad and measure itGoogle AdMob
Purchase records, when you buy a premium crate: the product, the store's purchase token or signed transaction, order or transaction number, country or region, purchase time, a random account tag the game creates, an app-integrity token, and your Firebase user identifier if you are signed inTo check that a purchase was paid before delivering it, to prevent fraud, and to handle refundsGoogle Play or Apple (payment), Unity In-App Purchasing in the app, and our purchase server on Cloudflare Workers

Ads in the game are opt-in: an ad plays only when you tap to watch one for a reward. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, the game asks for your consent through Google's consent message before any personalised ads are shown. You can review or change that choice at any time in the game: open Settings and tap Options under Ad privacy.

On iPhone, the game also asks for permission to track, through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt, before it loads an ad. If you allow it, AdMob can use your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) to choose and measure ads. If you decline, ads still play without it. You can change this at any time in the iPhone's Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking.

Guest progress stays on your device; it is not uploaded to a cloud save. Deleting the app can remove that local progress.

When you are signed in, the game keeps an additional private save in Cloud Firestore in Mumbai, India. Campaign progress, army, commander name and achievements sync together. Volume and device display preferences stay local. Android and iPhone saves are separate. You can earn achievements offline; reporting resumes after connection.

The game tries this sign-in each time it starts, so signed-in players join the leaderboard without a tap. If you choose Sign out in Settings > Account · Cloud save · Achievements, it stops signing in automatically until you sign in again.

Disconnecting stops cloud access but does not delete an existing cloud save. To delete your online account and its cloud save, sign in and open Settings > Account · Cloud save · Achievements > Delete account in the game. This removes your leaderboard entry, the cloud save and your Firebase account at once. Progress on your device stays, and you can keep playing as a guest. Achievements already sent to Google Play Games or Game Center stay with those services. You can also ask us to delete your cloud progress using the address below.

The leaderboard

When you are signed in, the game adds you to a public leaderboard. It shows your commander name, your total XP, your rank and an avatar picture that the game assigns to you; you cannot choose it. Anyone who plays Narrow Front can see the top 100. We run the leaderboard on Cloudflare (Workers and a D1 database), separately from your cloud save. It stores your Firebase user identifier so that only you can change your entry, and shows other players only a coded id instead. To prevent cheating, it also keeps the score your game last claimed and when your entry last changed.

  • A name that breaks our naming rules is shown as a generated callsign, such as "FALCON 27". Players can report a name they find offensive. We review reports and may rename or remove an entry.
  • To leave the leaderboard, open Settings > Account · Cloud save · Achievements and turn off Show me on the leaderboard. This deletes your entry and stops the game from adding you again from that device. Turning it back on adds you at the next sync.
  • Delete account also deletes your leaderboard entry, together with any reports you made or that were made about your name.
  • Hiding another player's row affects only your own device.

What the site collects

  • Analytics. Only if you choose "Allow analytics", the site uses Google Analytics to count page views and a few actions, such as opening media or following a store link. If you choose "No thanks", no analytics events are sent.
  • Hosting. The site is served by Firebase Hosting. Like any web server, it processes your IP address and browser details to deliver the page.
  • Your preferences. The site stores analytics and display preferences in your browser's local storage.

Earlier launch email signups

Email signups on this website are now closed. If you previously signed up, your existing record contains your email address, chosen phone platform, consent to one launch email, the consent version and latest submission time. Those records remain private in Google Cloud Firestore in Mumbai, India, and are used only for the launch email you requested. You can request removal using the contact below.

How long we keep it

We keep addresses from earlier launch email signups until the requested email has been sent, then delete them. You can also request removal at any time using the contact below. Analytics and crash data are kept for the default retention periods of the Google services listed above. A leaderboard entry is kept until you turn off Show me on the leaderboard or delete your account.

Your choices and rights

  • To have an earlier launch email signup removed, or to ask what we hold about you, write to the address below. We will answer within 30 days.
  • You can leave the public leaderboard at any time with Show me on the leaderboard in the game, or delete your account and your entry with Delete account.
  • You can reset your device's advertising identifier, or opt out of ad personalisation, in your phone's settings. On iPhone, you can also turn tracking off for Narrow Front under Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking.
  • Depending on where you live, you may have further rights, such as correcting your data or complaining to a data-protection authority.

Children

Narrow Front is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date.
